Once In A Lifetime

This past Sunday I had the once in a lifetime opportunity to meet someone whom, over the past year, has become an inspiration to me. Angie Smith from Bring the Rain started her blog when her fourth daughter Audrey was in utero and had been given a fatal diagnosis. She blogged about her days of pregnancy and after Audrey was born and passed she blogged about her grief from losing her daughter. She is an amazing woman with so much courage and dedication to the lord. She has truly inspired me to be a better mom, wife and most importantly a better christian. A friend of mine and I have always talked about how we would love to meet her and how we thought it would be such a great idea if her husband Todd, a singer in the christian group Selah, would come to our area in concert...mostly so we could meet her!

Sunday I discovered that they were in fact in our area and would be doing a concert that night!! With little time to get ready and no tickets, we decided we could not pass this up. We pulled in to the parking lot only to see SOLD OUT signs on the front doors. We had to get in and meet Angie, err...um...I mean see Selah and Avalon in concert, so my friend went in and they had a few tickets left from people who did not show up (who would not show up...I can not figure this out!!). So in we go, trying to stalk Angie find our seats. Selah was already on stage and he was just starting to talk about Audrey. My friend and were both like...I didn't bring my box of Kleenex. He then pointed out Angie and had her stand...great, now we know exactly were to head during intermission. Speaking of intermission, let's get to the good stuff. We will call this inter'mission', because YES we were on a mission. Fighting through the traffic that was headed the opposite way to the bathroom, we were headed to finally meet Angie IRL (In Real Life, in case you are not a 'blog dork'). I was a little nervous and probably blabbed like an idiot, but we got our picture with her and her sweet Kate (who was sleeping on her shoulder) and I could not be happier!

After the show we also got to meet Todd and the rest of Selah and had our picture with them also. It was such an awesome night!!

This post is not about me being stalker of someone that I don't really know. I decided to start this blog because I have been reading blogs for some time now, and I have been inspired by so many amazing blog writers. Becoming a blog reader has opened me up to so many new ideas, thoughts, perspectives, etc. etc. It has a sense of community. Everyone is so supportive of those in need..in need of advice, emotional support, financial support, prayer...it doesn't matter. These are people that you have never met, but you feel like you know so well. So I decided to jump on board and start a blog of my own. I will probably post most of the time about random thoughts or things that we do, some about my kids, some about my husband, some about my life. It will be a place where I will be held accountable for things I want to accomplish in life and most importantly a place where I can learn and grow with the Lord.
